He has always been one of my most admired and honored of the Founding Fathers. I even put him in one of my artworks entitled "America".
I know that he was a most avid gardener, as well as all his other assets. I recently took a video tour of Mount Vernon and now intend to visit in person. Thank you Linnie, once again, for a top notch post!jerilandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07418564262425621746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1692353766608445190.post-53248835195338109902011-02-24T01:16:08.783-05:002011-02-24T01:16:08.783-05:00This is a MAGNIFICENT posting. I was secretly hoping you would, and here it is! :) You've made my homeschooling day, since little Miss Becky Button Nose has a fever, and I was not up to preparing anything today.

I agree with the Mousekins, too, that History should be celebrated! Only then can we truly know who we are.

Blessings to you today, dear friend!

Love,

MarquetaMarqueta (Mar-kee-ta) G.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13471332103238738458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1692353766608445190.post-51869644463583331442011-02-22T11:52:52.279-05:002011-02-22T11:52:52.279-05:00Dear Linnie,

We love the Mousekin family, they look like they're off to a George Washington parade celebration! Mama Mousekin is working on a lovely patriotic quilt! Tillie Tinkham, the mouse seamstress at Corgyncombe, is impressed! Finding the cannonball and musket balls surely brings the reality of history home! We love the George Washington quote: "Be courteous to all but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence." We don't know if we will get to do a George Washington post this year, as we recently returned from Vermont and have been busy but we so enjoyed yours, thanks for posting it!

Your friends,
Diane and daughter Sarah at the Corgyncombe CourantDiane Shepard Johnson and Sarah E.
