The Pink Room Make Over

During the time that my computer was dead and broken,
We did manage to accomplish many "new home" DIY updates.
I thought that you may like to see the finished Master Bedroom make-over...

 Here is the "BEFORE" picture!
It may be hard to see, but the BRIGHT PINK
 was also very GLOSSY!!
(also the previous "teen-gals" used an abundance of
strong musk cologne that lingered heavy in the room for months)!

Many of you prayed for Mommy last spring..
(Pulmonary embolism)

and it is such a blessing to see her up on a ladder!!
She is such a HUGE Blessing in our lives!
(wouldn't listen to me to stay down)!
And her expertise was priceless!!!
Do you believe that she will be 89 this March?
(Thanks to ALL who PRAYED
and Glory to God)!

And he said, The things
which are impossible with
 men are possible with God
                             Luke 18:27

(Hubby-Bear and I  did of course do the muscle stuff)
(I also can't help to boast a wee bit, that I hung the paper
on two whole walls all by myself while Mommy and Hubby-Bear
had gone off to their slumber)

Hubby-Bear doesn't mind this "Flowery Room",
for he has his own "Bear Den"- "Man Cave" to escape to,
where no flowers or fluff are allowed, when he needs a breath of
Man Bear Air!

My Grandma Omi made this Pillow cover when she lived
in Germany when Mommy was a little girl!

(it was one of the few things that didn't burn
during the intense Berlin bombing!.....
only two small suitcases of belongings came through)

It is a CHERISHED reminder of  life's
struggles and God's grace
and provision

Here is a picture of Omi after she arrived in the USA
(post WWII)
Mommy and Omi always expressed THANKFULNESS
and never looked back at their WW II struggle.
(I posted a You-Tube video of their
own city after the bombing that you can watch below bottom)
Mommy made this for me when I was a little girl!
Each piece of silk or satin holds a story of someone in the family.

The pink around the border was taken from my own baby bassinet!
And the turquoise blue is a piece of Mommy's maternity blouse!

Others are swatches from dresses or ties from three generations.
I remember sitting beside her as she embroidered all the colorful
stitchery.

Missy is struck by the elegant Beauty of this charming China  Lady
that we have named Mary after
the Lovely Mary of "An Historical Lady" Blog
A cherished  desk fits so well in it's new residence
(we are still wondering what we will do with the thrice painted floor)???
 green- greener -to chippy brown.....sigh..
 Got any ideas??

By the way have you stopped by

The antique books are kept safe behind the glass doors,
and are relieved to be out of the boxes they were trapped in for the move.

Aren't glass paperweights just lovely?
"It's my one weekness"
(as Dorcas Lane of Candleford would say)
These were fun to collect from flea markets or yard sales.

Here are some interesting sites about paperweights
                                                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paperweight

This shelf belonged to Hubby-Bear's Mom and she proudly spoke of
how it came over on the Boat from England.
(I hope I can remember soon where I packed the shelf pegs...
somewhere very safe so as to not get LOST)!!
There is another rug braided by Mommy, and the chair pad was made by my Omi

Mama and Papa Mousiekin especially like the new room
for they are planning to hold a BALL here!
They will be using a music box that was a gift to my
Great Grandma (paternal)and then handed down to me.
 It plays two beautiful waltzes.

"Always be Thankful"

Mommy was here and survived this!
(she met my dad as a result of the Berlin Airlift
                                              another incredable story)!

  Rejoice evermore.
 Pray without ceasing.

  3. LINNIE! THIS IS a huge, a wonderful and impressive makeover! It really is astounding how you can take something that is so, so.....LOUD and garrish (that color pink is a bit much, no?) and then turn it into a thing of great beauty. Your furnishing match everything so well and it looks as if it was meant to be that way! AND YOUR MUM IS LOVELY!!! BRAVO TO ALL! God bless you dearest, Anita

  5. Beautiful makeover! I love your gorgeous quilt, too. :) Did your mom teach you how to make hand-braided rugs? I'd like that skill...

  6. My husband was standing behind me when I opened your post. I showed him the make-over and he was very impressed - as impressed as I am. He also has his "bear-cave" of an office that I call the "olde curiosity shop" and therefore does not mind flowers when they appear elsewhere. I remember the BBC 1990's set for Sherlock Holmes. The drapes in his sitting room were lavish Victorian roses on a black background. In no way did they detract his masculine mind from a puzzling case.

  7. Dear Linnie,

What lovely wallpaper and such a pretty room! The wallpaper reminds me of the old wallpaper in my bedroom. Our little windows are low so that the corgyn can peek out! What wonderful heirlooms your pillow cover, quilt, rug and chair pad, shelf, and music box are! We enjoyed our Tasha Tudor newsletter, too! Just love the stove on the cover of the Tasha calendar! Papa Mousiekin looks dashing in his plaid and Mama Mousiekin bears a striking resemblance to you at the ball! So glad to see your Mommy up and so active!

    What a fantastic make-over.
The wallpaper is very special, as are the lovely pieces you've inherited.
    They go well together :-)

I have german ancestry too..it's so sad to think of all the pain that war creates for everyone, nobody really 'wins'.
How blessed we are to know the Prince of Peace..may He come speedily and in our day. Amen!
Praise God for the continued health of your dear mother!
Mine is 95 and was still standing on chairs at your mum's age - you simply can't keep a good woman down, lol!

  12. What a glorious makeover, Linnie! The room is so romantic now, Goodbye PINK! (Although I adore pink in smaller amounts) Your mommy seems a lot like mine, who is 85. She taught me everything I know about wallpapering, and she is still going strong.
Mu husband is in the process of re-doing a huge bathroom in our old house. I will be leaving my art table to hang that paper in a few days. I will be thinking of your mom whilst I stand on that ladder!

  18. Beautiful makeover! When we moved into our first house, the guest bedroom had plaid wallpaper and a carpet patterned to look like wood planks. We called it the "Ugly Bedroom" long after it had a beautiful floral theme redo!
