Decorated GOOSE EGGS! in Honor of RESURRECTION DAY

..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..

Tasha Tudor has inspired  a Lovely style
 of "Goose Egg" decorating!

..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..

Mrs. BUTTERCUP donated many eggs this Spring...

  Come and see what we  did with them!

                                                    This year blowing out the yokes proved to be a

"Dizzy Gillespie" experience, so putting the vacuum cleaner hose on reverse became
                                                          an ingenious invention!!

Putting a ziplock bag in a canning jar with a canning funnel
was the perfect way to capture the yoke for freezing!

Ready to decorate with the "savings" from long time collecting!

Sometimes you just happen upon a "nugget" Treasure
that just seems sent by the Lord Himself!!!
This "tiny" book is such a Treasure,
from a Church Bazaar for a "tiny" Ten cents!

Rev. Simon Peter Long penned this book in 1902,
and it has been a most life changing look at the
last WORDS of
JESUS on the CROSS

Father (Owen) Mousiekin gently
reads The Wounded Word
to his Family as they paint
 "Tic Tacs" for the Resurrection Sunday Celebration!

"O bleeding Head and wounded,
And full of pain and scorn,
In mockery surrounded
With cruel crown of thorn!
O Head before adorned
With grace and majesty,
Insulted now and scorned,
All hail I bid Thee."

"Stricken, smitten and afflicted,'
see Him dying on a tree!
'Tis the Christ , by man rejected;
Yes my soul 'tis He 'tis He!
'Tis the long expected Prophet,
David's Son yet David's Lord;
Proofs I see sufficient of it;
'Tis the true and faithful Word."

"When on the cross the Savior hung
And that sore load that on Him weighed
With bitter pangs His nature wrung,
Seven words amid His pain He said;
O let them well to heart be laid!"

"Father forgive these men,' He spake,
'for lo! they know not what they do;
Nor of my suff'rings vengence take!'
And when we sin in weakness, too,
For us, dear Lord, this prayer renew."

"In my hands no price I bring;
Simply to Thy cross I cling.
Here Lord, I give myself away-
'Tis all that I could do."

"He thought upon the thief and said,
'Thou shat behold my Paradise,
With me ere yet this day be fled.
Lord see us, too, with pitying eyes,
And raise us from our miseries."

"His mother stood beside Him there;
'Behold thy son! And let her find
A son O John in thy care.'
Lord care for those we leave behind,
Nor let the world prove all unkind!"

"Again , 'My God, My God,' He cried,
Thou art forsaken at this tide,
'To win acceptance, Lord, for us;
O comfort deep and marvelous!"

"Once more He saith; ' I thirst !'
 O Prince of Life! that we might be
Rescued from death, Thou dar'st the worst.
 So dost Thou long to set us free;
Not fruitless be that thirst in Thee!"
                                                      S. P. Long
 (from The Wounded Word)

"Dear Brethren: However old this world and yonder
  worlds may be, the Word is older. (then quoting John 1:3
he goes on to say): "As we approach Calvary's Hill, let us
 not forget that Jesus created the hills, and that "God
 thy Mighty Maker died" and "the Word was made Flesh"
....                                                   Rev  S.P. Long  1902

"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
                                                                                    Luke  23:34
                                                            "What a revelation! By the prayer the Wounded Word tells us
                                                               Who He is and what He is and what we should be."
                                                                                                                                            Rev S. P. Long

THE SEVEN WORDS ON THE CROSS

I.
The hammer falls, the nails are driven,
They slay the Lord of earth and heaven,
They nail His body to the cross
They cast the lot about His cloths.
The wicked nails His sinews cleave
Beneath the hammer's blow,
But listen; "Father ; them forgive,
They know not what they do."

II.
The deed is done, He hangs between
the mailfactors with Him slain,
And scoffing parts polluted lips,
While penitence the other steeps
I Jesus' blood,Who with him dies
And says; " I say to thee,
To-day with Me in Paradise
Thou verily shalt be."

III.
Mourning weeping multitude
There at the cross of Jesus stood
The Savior's mother, bent with grief
And trembling as an aspen-leaf,
And the other mourners standing near,
The Savior saysto John,
" Behold thy mother," and to her,
"O women behold thy son!"

IV
Deepdarkness wraps the golden ray
In gastly night at noon of day
And spreads a gloom upon the world,
The shroud of nature seems unfurled,
When now the loud and anguished cry
Rises from the accursed tree;
"My God, my God, O why, O why
Hast Thou forsaken me!"

V.
The seers' visions soon fulfilled,
The wrath of God will soon be stilled
Ans all the world be washen clean
From all the grime of wrong and sin.
The final hour is drawing nigh,
And soon the Lamb accursed
Is free. But hark; another cry
Of misery; " I thirst."

VI.
A sour drink it was, indeed,
Within the spounge upon the reed
That quenched the thirst of holy lips
Of Him, who all in goodness steeps
The spotless Lamb of sacrifice
Is slain, the High-priest sees
Deliverence coming from skies;
" 'Tis finished," He decrees.

VII.
The vale of death it's somber shades
Before  the tortered Savior spreads
And down His head He fainting bends
And up His dying prayer, that upward flies;
"In Thy hands, Father, I commend
My spirit." He dies He dies.
                                                   F. W. Abicht
                          (Taken  from the Wounded Word) 1902

 He is not here: for he is risen,
 as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
                                                                Matthew 28:6

He Lives!!!

  4. Dear Linnie.

    The eggs that you made are just beautiful with all your special handwork and painting! They look so lovely displayed in your photographs! The little book "The Wounded Word" is indeed a treasure and how appropriate for Father Mousekin to read to his family to ponder upon whilst they decorate their eggs! The peek into the Mousekins is, as usual, a delight to see! Love that photograph of the egg producer Mrs. Buttercup!

    A Joyous Resurrection Day to you and your family!

    Your friends,
    Diane and daughter Sarah at the Corgyncombe Courant

  5. Dear Linnie,

    How nice of Mrs. Buttercup to share her eggs for such a beautiful craft! Please tell her "thank you" for me. :)

    And using a vacuum cleaner is ingenious for blowing eggs; I thought using a balloon pump was clever, but your idea is even more so. ;0)

    Don't you love when you find just the right book, at just the right time? God leads us gently along, providing loving signs to show how much He loves us!

    The poetry and imagery of "The Wounded Word" were so touching, and just right for Resurrection Sunday.

    Love,

    Marqueta

    p.s. Thank you again for being my sweet blog friend!

  7. HOW LOVELY to hang Miss Buttercups eggs from the pussywillow branches. I think my favorite is the one with the yellow and blue roses. They really are lovely. And I see the little moussies are busy with their egg preparation as well.
    I share your faith in Christ and love that you say "Resurrection Day" in lieu of Easter.... (although I like the word Easter too.)
