A Trip To ~G.C.V.& M ~ With Mommy for Mother's Day!!

Mommy came to stay for a week including
Mother's Day!
So we decided to go to
The Genesee County Village and Museum

It was great fun!!

We started our tour in the
John L. Wehle Gallery

The coverlet display
was exquisite at the
John L. Wehle Gallery !!

The Susan Greene Historic Clothing Exhibit

always has  something new and is so wonderful

to  spend time and browse and look through !

Mommy had so many lovely memories to share when she saw
reminders! Here she reminisces of how her father bought two
matching purses for her mother and her older sister, as a courting gift
much like the one below!

                  Antique Papier Mache Doll

Beautiful sewing notions!

The Campbell House

Mommy was so interested
in everything!
It was her fist time there!!

She remembered being a little
girl visiting her Grandfather
the Blacksmith!!

The School House

The surveyor

Jim Nicoll

author of  several books

The interpreters are so
informative, helpful
and interesting!

Mommy is 93 years young
and did amazingly well
going through the village!!

The Print Shop

The Mercantile

When it was time to go back
Mommy got a ride in the
gulf-cart while HubbyBear
set off to bring the van up front

She was very pleased with the plan!!

..~..~..~..~..~..~..~..
And so driving home called for
ice cream!!
After all it was Mother's Day!

And at home she opened
her gift!

And for the rest of the week
Mommy relaxed, visited
and read lots of books!!

The Mousiekin gals made sure
to pick the perfect books for Mommy!

Mama Mildred also received
two books for her Mother's Day!

And....
we ate lots of great food!!!

Mommy brought me something very special!
A needle keep that she made when she was
a little girl, that made it through the bombing
of Berlin WWII! A needle keep that she used
while I sat next to her as I was growing up!
The inside is lined with her Aunt's apron
material and the outside is crochet,
and she  has filled it with a cash of needles!!!

Hope you enjoyed
Many Blessings, Linnie

Having been on the original Queen Mary herself, it will be a treat for her to read as well as the other books by Susan Branch! Linnie, you look great in your Laura Ashley dress---It's perfect for you! You would be a great docent at a place like Genesee! Thank you for sharing all of the clothing and beautiful coverlets! The yellow ware bowls are gorgeous! I could go on and on. Blessings to you, dear Linnie! xoxo ♥

  5. Beloved Linnie, HELLO!

Where can I even begin to tell you how special this post is. First of all, that you have your mum with you....and that you treated her to such an extraordinary journey in time, in the history of your region. I LOVE this time of history, the architecture...so UPSTATE NEW YORK, and historical. I love seeing your mum reclined, enjoying the sun, as if she was taking in a deep breath and letting out the breath of her years as a hardworking mother.

The Mousekins always play a very important role in your posts, for they too have their world of living. I so love your mind.

Wishing you a fabulous weekend full of magic.

  7. Good Afternoon, Dear Linnie, from Wales!

What a lovely lady your Mommy looks, and such a strong resemblance you have to her. I'm so happy for you both that you had such a good week together, and what a grand day out! As always, I've loved looking at all your pictures, like a delightful picture book, sharing things in our little corner of our online world. I learn so much from you.

Hugs and Blessings from Across the Big Water ~~~Deb xoxo

  17. Thank you for all your photographs. What a lovely time you had together. I look for special occasions when I can wear my Laura Ashley, too. Your dress is so pretty. A stroll through the open air history museum is what the Man-of-the-House and I do here in Lancaster, Pa at Landis Valley when we need to relax and slow down, feel more at peace. I like seeing the 19th century woven coverlets, the clothing, the sewing accouterments, and the smile on your mother's face, happy to be with her daughter. Precious.
