Mousiekins Gather Ground Cherries

The Mousiekin Family are happy that
the computer is back in service.....

..and now they can share
their adventures once again!
(They had to be very still and quietly hide from
the devious Mr Stubbs)

Papa Owen, with his son Sebastian
and Haw  Hee the Donkey
gathered ground cherries for Mama Mildred

(After finding a teeny wooley caterpillar on the Rhubarb
that is)

Beloved, I wish above all things
that thou mayest prosper
and be in health,
even as thy soul prospereth.

Missy helped Mama make ground cherry jam!

"The ground cherries grew on leafy bushes.
Thick on the stems and under the large leaves
hung the six cornered bells, pale and thinner
then paper. And inside each bell was a plump
juicy round fruit"

Product Details

GROUND CHERRY JAM
from COOKS.COM

3 c. ripe ground cherries
1/4 c. lemon juice (or Real Lemon)
1/2 c. water
1 pkg. Sure-Jel
3 c. sugar

To a quart saucepan, add ground cherries, lemon, water, and Sure-Jel. Bring cherries to a boil and mash them. Be sure they are all mashed so they'll absorb the sugar. Add sugar. Boil according to directions on Sure-Jel package.
This will make 3 medium jars of jam.

  2. Oh Linnie, OOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!! THEY ARE BACK and I am thrilled, and Tea Rat is jumping up and down in his boots with JOY to see his friends back in the business of hunting and gathering! And Tea Rat says, "They also have the same fine, black stove as I do!"

The precious little donkey (Tea Rat has a little horse WITH a Tonka toy trailer!) is the perfect little companion and helper on this very important harvest adventure. That jam has to be delish! PLAY PLAY PLAY is what I say, and I am having a blast over here trying to put something together for Christmas using my little theatre. How delightful it is to know there are great souls out there who know the importance of joyful play. Thank you dearest Linnie for making my morning perfect. I am off to work to teach my students French, but also how to not lose sight of their creativity.

    HUGS!

Is that a silly question? lol I just don't know....they sure look tasty, either way. So good to visit you all again. Oh, and I do hope to see more of our new friend......Hitty Lin
Blessings dear Linnie and my Mousiekin friends

  10. I love reading the adventures of our smaller friends ~ and they have taught me something new today ~ I have never seen Physalis, or ground cherries {a new name for me to learn!} used in any way other than a garnish for a posh dessert!
    Enjoy the jam!

  11. Cherry pie and cherry jam are a favorite of the Man-of-the-House here.
I can see that you are a person who makes underlines in her books and if not, bookmarks or takes notes of the stories she reads. Your obscure literary reference of ground cherries from "Little Town . ." is positively fitting.

  12. It's always a delight to visit your blog and this post didn't disappoint. So glad your computer has been fixed.

I smiled when I read your Laura Ingalls Wilder quote as I posted a quote from one of her books on Saturday. :)
