A Downton Tea

I KNOW THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE
OUT THERE THAT, LIKE MYSELF,
ARE SAD TO SEE THE SIX YEAR RUNNING OF
DOWNTON ABBEY REACH IT'S ENDING!!

PLAY MUSIC:

WE KNEW THAT THE SHOW WAS DUE TO END
FOR A WHOLE YEAR AS WE ANTICIPATED
HOW JULIAN FELLOWES WOULD TIE THINGS UP!

SO AS THE LAST DAY FINALE APPROACHED,
I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE FUN TO HAVE
A TEA DURING THE FINAL EPISODE!

SO WE VISITED A LOVELY GLUTEN FREE BAKERY
AND PICKED OUT SOME GOODIES!!!

THERE WERE MANY DELECTABLE THINGS TO CHOOSE
AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS ALWAYS SO NICE !!

AND THEN THE NEXT STOP ;
"THE ENGLISH ROSE TEA SHOPPE"

WHAT A LOVELY PLACE!! SO MANY THINGS TO
LOOK AT AND SMELL AND TOUCH!

EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK THERE IS
SOMETHING TO DELIGHT THE EYE!

THEY HAD A DOWNTON ABBEY TEA LINE!
(SO WE BOUGHT TWO TINS TO TRY)

THERE WAS LOVELY HAMMERED DULCIMER
MUSIC COMING FROM THIS !

I ALSO CHOSE SOME "FANCY GOODS"  TO BRING
HOME ALONG WITH THE TEA TINS

  1. Linnie, You brought a huge smile to my face when I saw that the Mousiekins have their own TV and were watching Downton Abbey, too! 😀 Your tea party was extraordinary! I love your tea things. You were dressed so prettily, too. I think it's wonderful you had this party for you and your hubby. It was probably just as much fun preparing for it--that tea shoppe was a destination in itself.

  2. Dearest Linnie ~~~ such a charming and delightful post! It has brought a huge smile to my face, and I've learned some new things too ~~~ I did not know you could buy drip stoppers for teapots! Oh, and what a spread you put on, you did Downton Abbey proud and I'm sure even the Dowager Countess would have had a smile on her face as a guest. You do have some beautiful china and accoutrements. Lucky Mildred getting such a lovely bouquet from Owen too.
    Hugs ~~~ Deb xoxo
p.s. I have my eye on that wooden tea trolley! It is something else indeed.

  3. Happy to have come across your blog today. I so enjoyed watching the series Downton Abbey. What a delight to see how you created the perfect tea party for watching the Finale. You have so many beautiful dishes and linens. The food looks scrumptious. The ending made me happy and left me thinking all was well. Hopefully they will make a movie someday. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful photos. I will come back and visit you again.

  5. Oh dear Linnie, this is just a delightful post! Full of all the beauty that an English Tea brings. I just adore all of your lovely china! The red transferware is gorgeous as are your beautiful teapots! I've never bought one of those drip catchers, but have used them in tearooms. Owen was so sweet as was your hubby, to bring flowers to their favorite gals! Your food is just beautiful as well---I just love all that you have shared, dear one! And yes, I am so sad that Downton Abbey is over..silly me, I cried... but what a happy ending! xoxo ♥

  6. I AM LAUGHING AND GIGGLING and remembering my own creativity in the Nowhere days....as I see the Mousekins always, always follow suit. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN LARGE SCREEN TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well my dear, we totally enjoyed our viewing of Downton Abbey; my husband had found all the episodes on-line and we watched it all during the Christmas holidays. This is a show that for many of us, never, ever gets old. I am so excited to know that good quality period pieces can still be created and ENJOYED. Wasn't that a grand affair? It is an escape but then a true history travel. How the costumes captured me, the characters, the good and the bad.

My oh my...Tea Rat is beside himself and wants to be invited to the Mousekin party! Here's to TEA and to Downton!

  16. My gosh, what a lovely town. I could spend hours in that shop with all it's class and beauty, lovely vignettes, and wonderful looking products.... I think you could spend a small fortune as well.
BEAUTIFUL tea, You have marvelous items Linnie! So glad to see them put to use in such a charming and delightful way; does Gary know what a special woman he married?
Amazingly, I have only watched season 1 of Downton Abby, and that was over a year ago. I've been saving Downton Abby it for a binge watch. Now that it's ended, I can watch the whole thing at once.

  19. I came back to take a closer look at your table setting. I am interested in the little silver basket that I assume catches the tea leaves and the little bird that seems to be holding down the lid of the teapot. Where does one find such delightful objects?
