In May get a weed hook,
a crotch and a glove,
and weed out such weeds,
as the corn do not love.
For weeding of winter corn,
now it is best;
but June is the better for
weeding the rest.
Slack never thy weeding,
death nor for cheap,
the corn shall reward it,
ere ever ye reap;
And especially where ye
do trust for to seed,
let that be well used,
the better to speed.
....
..Fine basil desireth
it may be her lot,
to grow as a gilliflower ,
trim in a pot;
that ladies a gentles,
to to whom ye do serve,
may help her, as needeth,
poor life to preserve.

~~~A GIVE AWAY!!~~~
I would LOVE to send this "ENGLISH COTTAGE GARDENING" book
by Margaret Hensel (forward by Tasha Tudor)
to one of my FRIENDS and FOLLOWERS!
I have been pretty much an absentee blogger for quite a while. For the most part without Internet, and also at times my faulty computer. But this last year also held many
challenges with some death losses, health issues, and some financial obstacles .
Sometimes I could find myself pretty low and empty of words and thoughts. It was always a lift to visit your blogs from a cell phone though.(which only worked in the car...not me driving) But every now and then someone would pop over and leave a comment or email an encouraging note! These are things that warm the heart and create HOPE! THANK YOU FRIENDS for sticking with me!
So I thought it would be a great idea to host my first give away! And show gratitude
for your friendship!!
All you have to do is show up in the comment box, maybe tell me which version of "The Garden" song you liked, or what you like best in your garden or why you would like this book! On June 6th your names will go into a tumbler and a name pulled!
Many Blessings Warm Hugs and Lots of Love Linnie
Papa Mousiekin says: "Press on" |
Springtime
Oh, spring came to my garden
And caught it unaware
Wearing just a few old leaves
And a dejected air.
But when spring left my garden,
Its work so deftly done,
Many, many Daffodils
Were dancing in the sun.
Oh hello! What a sweet post-worth waiting for!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cottage gardens, and have tried to make my yard like one. So I would also love to win your give away!!!!
Thank you for the uplifting words-it helped me this morning-a lot! And I hope things are looking better for you....
Love, Debra
Such a beautiful post today. I love everything about it, and I whole heartedly agree with papa Mousiekin. God certainly has all things under control.....blessings to you sweet friend I am not much the gardener, but I'm learning as I go. Your give away would be a big help, I'm for certain...should I win :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your little garden friends, adorable little donkey and sheep! I may have to add one to my Fairy Garden Wagon...:)))
ReplyDeleteI adore England, and gardening, I even ordered Wallflower seeds this spring (hard to find?!) ~ to make my garden more England! :)))
The book looks amazing!(that Staddle stone and gate on the cover would look nice in my garden!)
Sending you all good wishes for all good things!!
Lovely photos of your garden! I love gardening and I'm looking forward to watching the video's you posted. Thanks for sharing! : )
ReplyDeleteHello again-don't count me twice for the give away-but I just had to stop in again and tell you how much your comments meant to me...I'm so sorry for your furred and feathered losses-it hurts! We are still concerned about Titus our goose-she limps, but seems perfect otherwise. I won't subject her to antibiotics again-it almost killed her once.
ReplyDeleteSorry for barging in here again-but I just had to say hello! Looking forward to getting to know ya!
~Debra
Debra my Dear,
ReplyDeleteYou may "barge" anytime!! ;-D
(but it is not a barge at all and welcomed always)!!!
blessings, Linnie
Oh, wow! Look at all these beautiful flowers! Spring has definitely come to your part of the world! Its all so lush and lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've been busy too, hope all is well! thanks for coming by to visit me! And what a fantastic giveaway, that is a beautiful book!~
What beautiful flowers! And Victorian Kitchen Garden is a favorite of mine to watch. This is my very first year planting a garden and I am having fun learning all about it! Thank you for the chance to win this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGive me Mahalia Jackson ANY TIME!!!! And Miss Aretha Franklin singing OLD LANDMARK...now that will get you jumpin' onto your feet in the garden! Oh Linnie my dear, IT IS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!! There is so much to tell here, but first of all, we too here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, we had the worse winter we have ever seen. But the long awaited spring is finally here, giving us so much joy and I can't help but think of JESUS who makes all things come back to life. AND I love your Mouseikin family, especially papa who is at the tractor! HE has much to do!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour lovely musings and give away are fabulous. May I enter?
Thank you again for connecting once again. Please stay with us and let's have some summer magic! XOXOX ANITA
What gorgeous spring flowers - really very pretty, indeed. I think crocus look the most courageous and beautiful when frosted by snow and ice. Isn't it wonderful how bulbs bounce back?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite photo is of your toy creatures on the worn garden path. Hawhee seems to belong.
But I like the secret garden as well because it looks inviting and secluded.
I will pass on the giveaway although thank you for thinking of your readers. I just stopped by to say hello.
Sorry about the death, computer difficulty and health concerns. We've experience, these too, in the past months and so I can sympathize.
It is warm and lush here in Pennsylvania with the heat well on its way for growing things.
Oh, You ARE such a tease! Good to see you again my friend. I think your garden is coming to life in an extraordinary way, gorgeous! I love the garden vids by Alan T. HE IS GREAT!. I will excuse myself from the giveaway, because I already own this book. Whoever wins it is getting a fabulous book.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I want to thank you for visiting my blog and becoming a follower.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to have visited here as your blooms and uplifting post and music are wonderful.
I love Alan's videos too and have watched them all, and sometimes twice.
I live in sub-tropical s.e. FL but that doesn't stop me from having a cottage garden, it's just different from northern ones as a lot of the normal c.g. flowers will not grow down here in our heat and humidity.
All three 'in the garden' renditions were nice.
I look forward to visiting you again.
I forgot to say, I agree with Anita on the song, no contest, it's Mahilia J! WOW. Oh, we are such garden twins, I actually have ALL of those books and have all those vids marked on my youtube as favs!
ReplyDeleteAll the videos you have shared are ones that I watch quite often throughout the year :) English gardening is something that I have learned here in my little spot of land. The English have an amazing way of taking a bit of land and transforming without too much fuss :)
ReplyDeleteHere in Northeastern PA, the Spring has been quite warm, but cold nights prevail :( ... I am slowly changing my flower beds and adding a more simple design. This way, I am able to enjoy the garden all year round without the stress :)
btw... Johnny Cash is the one that I tend to listen a great deal :)
I did not know that we were this close...you in New York State and I just south of your borders. Delightful!
mari
Dear Linnie,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you came by to visit! You surely have a lot of beautiful flowers around your place. I'm sure that Jesus would feel very comfortable there. I hope that things will be looking up for you the rest of this year.
Marqueta
ReplyDeleteJust last night while I was washing a load of dishes after company had left, I sang "In the Garden", over and over. It created such a time of worship and allowed me to practice His presence; washing dishes has never been so delightful.
