My Grandiedaughter Lexie and her two
sisters Ruthie and Nattie came to stay!
Lexie is reading the Hobbit
Lord of The Rings series
by J. R. R.Tolkien
She is serious into it reciting quotes
and poems and even wears
the " One Ring" around her neck!
She thought that it would be great fun to
go out to collect flowers from the orchard
and yard and make some Fairy Flower (or Elven) Crowns!!
So we gathered doggies and goaties,
baskets and snippers and away we
went out to the magical orchard
~Lottie and Molly~
The goldenrod was taller then me!!
Nattie thought that Molly should wear a shawl
Everyone was happy to stick together!
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”

Pixie and Sadie found three holes in the ground!!
Lexie was sure that it was an entrance to another world....
Gnomes, or the land of Faerie!!
(Trolls or Hobbits are much to big)!!
Or maybe BOGGARTS!!!

Back home we found more
delightful willing flowers!!
Lexie was so very pleased!
Doesn't Lexie look very much like
the girl in Tasha Tudor's
illustration from the book "1 is for One"

We had GREAT FUN!!
Every one was happy!
Lexie thought that Molly Goat should have
a wreath to wear so she made a lovely one
for her!!
She worked very hard to make it lovely!
Molly looked very pleased to see her wreath
...although she was more pleased with the taste!!
"Where there is life there's hope,
and need of vittles"
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
Ruthie found it to be a little too humorous
for Lexie's patience!
Mama Mousiekin and Missie
also made Fairy Crowns!
There are many tiny flowers around
still in bloom to choose from!
Some friends followed the
Mousiekin family home
from the Orchard !!
Hope you enjoyed!
Many many Blessings, Linnie

Oh Linnie, your world does not speak to me, IT SINGS TO ME! IT DOES!
ReplyDeleteI have no one here close by to play with as such. All of you are too far away! But if I had at least one person who would indulge me in this most wonderful play, I would have also made crowns, create scenarios in my garden, even played my harp in the garden!
Animals, wildflowers, children, tiny mousekins, this is what is necessary for such summer play! I LOVE IT ALL. Every turn and twist of the grapevine, every bloom on the crown of each head, so magical. CElEBRATE MY FRIEND! How I adore you...
This looks like so much fun, Linnie! My daughter loves to read the Tolkien books, so I'm going to send her this link. :)
ReplyDeleteLinnie, this is so cute!! The flower wreaths are beautiful! Did you use willow or grapevine branches as a base? Your dress and apron are so pretty! Is that your vintage Laura Ashley? Fun times with your grand girls that they will remember forever!
ReplyDelete"A wonderful time was had by all!" I love your faerie crowns!

Oh, Linnie, you made my day with all of those lovely pictures and the story that went with them!! Yes, it was very Tasha-like, and what a fun thing to do with your grandchildren, who are very nice looking I might say!!! They will always remember that special day with you!! Love your posts!!! ReplyDeleteLovely Elven ladies, including Molly in her shawl. How nice to have grand-daughters to frolic with and critters to tag along for the fun of it. I used to take a long trail through our woods with 3 goats,3 dogs and 4 cats all following along, every day. For some reason your post put me in mind of it. Your grands are very pretty girls!
ReplyDeleteOh my, so many beautiful flowers...so like Tasha's gardens! So many wonderful memories made this day...PRICELESS!
