Elizabeth Barrette Browning's Famous
Poem "How Do I Love Thee"
Is a true testimony of love between two people.
When Elizabeth was 15 she was stricken ill.
Her father was overly protective and forbade her to marry.
He did have her poems published.
She lived in seclusion in her sickroom as an invalid
untill Robert Browning, also a poet, wrote her a letter
and then they began a correspondence. He visited her and they fell in love.
Soon they secretly married and moved to Italy to help her health.
They had a son Pen, and lived deeply in love for many years
Elisabeth suffered many spells and during one she died
some what unexpectedly in Robert's arms.
Just moments before she had been kissing him.
He never again married.She was only 55
