GO OUT AND PLAY IN THE SNOW!!!

SOME TIMES THE SNOW
JUST CALLS YOU OUT SIDE....

It doesn't matter what your age!

The Snow Fairy
Throughout the afternoon I watched them there,
Snow-fairies falling, falling from the sky,
Whirling fantastic in the misty air,
Contending fierce for space supremacy.
And they flew down a mightier force at night,
As though in heaven there was revolt and riot,
And they, frail things had taken panic flight
Down to the calm earth seeking peace and quiet.
I went to bed and rose at early dawn
To see them huddled together in a heap,
Each merged into the other upon the lawn,
Worn out by the sharp struggle, fast asleep.
The sun shone brightly on them half the day,
By night they stealthily had stol'n away.

                                              It just calls you!!!

Snow flakes

I counted till they danced so
Their slippers leaped the town,
And then I took a pencil
To note the rebels down.
And then they grew so jolly
I did resign the prig,
And ten of my once stately toes
Are marshalled for a jig!

The air is crisp and there is much to sniff

Falling Snow
See the pretty snowflakes
Falling from the sky;
On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie.
On the window ledges,
On the branches bare;
Now how fast they gather,
Filling all the air.
Look into the garden,
Where the grass was green;
Covered by the snowflakes,
Not a blade is seen.
Now the bare black bushes
All look soft and white,
Every twig is laden,
What a pretty sight!

  5. Why hello! Let me just step in out of the snow and shake hands! I miss our snow- though I couldn't admit that to anyone here! We had the worst (best) snow in a quarter of a century over Christmas and these photos make me long for those simple cosy days! THANK YOU for visiting the Land of the (sometimes tearful) Strawberries! I can see that we will like your style!

  6. Hello there!

This is my first time coming by, and I had a lot of fun romping in the snow! :)

Thanks for sharing the cute pictures; I never thought about the danger of snow shoe "flat tires" before.

    Love,

    Marqueta

  7. Dear Linnie,

We so enjoyed going along with your snowy walk! I love going out with my snowshoes and finding tracks, too. Also enjoyed seeing all the critters outside in the snow at your farm! What a delight to happen upon the Mousekin family in the hollow of a stump and that little brown mouse outside his cute little house! Tillie Tinkham, the seamstress mouse at Corgyncombe, sends her best regards!

    Your Friends,
    Diane and daughter Sarah

  8. The name Butt'ry and Book'ry caught my attention...nothing would disappoint with those charming words having anything to do with it I was thinking. I was right.

Loved the snow and barnyard animals too. I was once a shepherdess....

  9. Hi.......from my farm. Thank you so for coming over and leaving a comment at my blog. I could see a picture in my mind of your Grandma. Thank you for your info. I had some oyster shells in the barn. My honey took some to the coop and they haven't been eating them since last week. I also have been gathering them more often. That has helped.

Thank you so Linnie for helping me out. Sorry I am late at getting to visit you.........working at the college kitchen has me a little busy! Want to be home......everyday.......ALL day. Smile.
    Hugs from me!
