In the book "Mr Stubbs" written by T.L. McCready
and illustrated by Tasha Tudor, (1956)
their Mr Stubbs has battle scars on his ears.
Our Mr Stubbs has some too!
Mr Stubbs in the book gets himself
built into a woodshed that carpenters
were coverting into a room!
Our Mr Stubbs managed to get himself
locked in our shed for a few hours!

After the passing of our Beloved Cat
"Sir Markus Kitty", at the ripe old age
of twenty three,
Truly he was "The BEST CAT EVER"!
"SIR MARKUS"
|
we decided, after 5 months, it was
time to adopt a new kitty. So we took a ride
to meet some Kitties at the
Shelter and give an older Cat a second chance.
We were compelled by a bonded pair,
and even though we had decided that
choosing another black and white Kitty
would be painful (and were only planning on one) ,
we went ahead and adopted
the two, a gray tiger and a black and white.
They just looked so scared and abandoned.
We were assured that they were
"mostly indoor" cats that stayed close to home.
(My fear was of a "door dasher" for we have Coyotes
around that we need to beware of)!
Well home we came with the new members
of the family and ...
soon we were ready to allow them to check
their new surroundings. Simon (who is black and white)
went immediately under a bed... but Mr Gray tiger whom
we discovered had a stub tail, and quickly dubbed
"Mr Stubbs" (from T.L. McCready and Tasha Tudor fame)
disappeared so quick as a flash!! He was not to be found
until the next day in a cupboard under the sink
with the door closed!! (he opened and closed it himself)
Well no sooner was he found then gone he was again.
The next morning he made his "DOOR DASH" escape
before Husband even knew what flashed before him!!
There was Mr Stubbs flying across the land..
far beyond the Pine trees......
After searching and calling, leaving food and water at the door,
on the third day guess what was left in front of the door stoop?
You may have guessed "a dead MOUSE"!!!
and you would be right!!!
Well, as time would have it he decided he would stay
and everybody now loves the cuddlely Mr Stubbs!!
..~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.. |
Hubby-Bear knew he came second to our dear
.... so he bought this plaque!!Marky Kitty
(Markus a month before he passed)
|
Markus looked young and
BEAUTIFUL even in his twenties
we miss him sorely |

What sweet kitties and a sweet book as well...I will be looking for that one....we once had a Mr. Stubs but, alas he ran away from home, never to be seen again...thanks for sharing God's word which is always a blessing.
ReplyDeleteHey sweet friend.....so sorry to see that Sir Marcus left you...I wonder my dear, do you think our King has a special place reserved in heaven for our furry friends? I wonder...I hope. But HIS love will reign/rain upon us so much that I just wonder if all will be made new. MR. STUBBS is a free-wheeling dude! A FREE SPIRIT! My darling little students remind me of cats...when I try to get them to walk in a straight line....they just do as they please...like trying to herd cats!!!
ReplyDeleteENJOY THE DAY and oooohhh....the Mousekin family took their chances being so close in that one shot!
Anita
Wow 23 that is amazing. What an adorable Kitty you had!! I just love cats. They are really wonderful. Thanks for sharing all about your cats. Very cute pictures ~Love Heather
ReplyDeleteDear Lady of Proverbs~
ReplyDeleteWhat tender affection and
care must have been lavished upon Sir Marcus to
have rendered just one of
his lives a total of 23 yrs.
I recall seeing your lovely
curtains in a high end
catalogue once and never saw
them again to order. Would
you share the source please?
Anita dear ~ Heaven would not be Heaven if our furry
friends were banned at the
gates...they are probably
the most suited for that
inheritance, given their
love and loyalty in our lives..
Hi to the Heritagetitchery Gal! Here is where the curtains are from:

Your cats are beautiful!!! I cried as I read about Markus. My condolences on your loss. And my congratulations on your two new family members:). I love this post!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kim
Dear Linnie,
ReplyDeleteOh, you make me miss all the kitties we've lost over the years, as well as the ones we had to leave behind in Idaho! Mr. Stubbs and Simon both look like cats we had a few years back.
Thank you for another glimpse of those beautiful curtains!
Love,
Marqueta
p.s. I hope you can find your plant book with my "mystery" in it! :)
Dearest Linnie,
ReplyDeleteMy heart hurts for your loss, all of us who have loved our pets as family, grieve with you...but they all await at rainbow bridge, to cross over with us:)
And what very precious, appropriate names you have given the two new ones!! I love the little book, as well!
My aunt and uncle had a black and white, named Boots, and he lived for an incredibly long time as well...along with your love and care, maybe it's a good breed?
You have been in my thoughts and prayers as you continue your preparations for a move...and that all those little issues will sort themselves out.
Love you so very much my dear kindred,
Christie
I'm sorry to hear that you lost Sir Marcus. He truly was a beautiful cat. It's a blessing that he even lived to 23 years old. I have four cats. My oldest will be 12 this year. I would hate to loose any of my little fuzz balls. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are enjoying your new older cats. That Mr. Stubs sounds "naughty," but cute. :)
Oh, and it was good to see The Mousekin Family again. I haven't seen them in awhile. :)
P.S. I should be mailing your package to you on Monday. :)

Hello from cloudy England! Thanks so much for visiting me - I have been looking at your previous post with the 'interesting' and fearful dental and medicinal tools and shuddering! And I have enjoyed the Mousekin family and of course, Mr Stubbs, what a grand gentleman he is.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely memorial to your dear Markus kitty. Glad to hear that your new kitties are feeling at home and Mr. Stubbs is now a cuddly kitty! We love the photographs of the Mousiekin family paying a call on Simon! Your Mr. Stubbs does look like the Mr. Stubbs in the Tasha Tudor illustrated book right down to the tail!

Oh Linnie my dear,
ReplyDeleteIt is such a blessing to be a part of a circle of wonderful souls that admire each other's arts, given to us by the Creator. I so love your visits and also coming to see what the Mousekin family is up to.
Well, this is IT! School starting, and all that.....but this is my ninth year, but most definitely not "old hat." For many changes will occur, but after a very illuminating chat with a dear friend, I realized that the only way to grow is by change. HERE WE GO.........
Blessings to you and BE WELL!! Anita
This is fantastic! I love it I read in another blog that someone is celebrating Tasha Tudor's birthday with a blog party - this would be perfect! Cats are so distinctive in their personalities - Love the picture of Mr. Stubbs underneath the bushes!
ReplyDeleteKathy
Hello! When I was researching Tasha Tudor, I found that she was married to Thomas McReady. So I did a quick sqealing break in my mind and said to myself - I just read about a book he wrote and she illustrated! JUst love learning new things!

Kathy

I am sitting here thinking... "I wonder if Linnie is having fun yet?"
ReplyDeleteAfter the boxes are all emptied is the best part, arranging it all in a pleasing manner.... making it your home.
I just had to pop in for a visit as I was drinking my coffee this morning. Please send your new address, my dear, so we might send little housewarming treasures...for I remember how much your timely gift meant to me...amongst the emotions of that bittersweet day.
ReplyDeleteMuch love to you dearest, and pace yourself...us older little chickadees have to be gently reminded of this;))
Hugs and blessings,
